Sporting Match Schedule

By: Greg | August 12th, 2008

I figured a fixture schedule might be a nice thing to have and take a peek at, so here it is. I’ve bolded the matches against the Cheaters and the Lampoes Lampiões (which are WAY too fucking early in the season for my taste).

The dates overall are obviously pretty wide open when competitions like the Champions League and domestic cups are eventually thrown into the mix. The home team is listed first and then obviously reversed for the later date. As of right now, the league has all the times set as 16:00 local but we all know that kickoff times are just as mutable as the dates.

Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira / August 16th @ 20:45 Local Time
Estadio do Algarve
Sporting v. Porto

Jornada 1 / 16: August 24th / February 1st
Sporting v. Trofense

Jornada 2 / 17: August 31st / February 8th
Braga v. Sporting

Jornada 3 / 18: September 21st / February 15th
Sporting v. Belenenses

Jornada 4 / 19: September 28th / February 22nd
Benfica v. Sporting

Jornada 5 / 20: October 5th / March 1st
Sporting v. Porto

Jornada 6 / 21: October 26th / March 8th
Paços de Ferreira v. Sporting

Jornada 7 / 22: November 2nd / March 15th
Rio Ave v. Sporting

Jornada 8 / 23: November 16th / April 5th
Sporting v. Leixões

Jornada 9 / 24: November 23rd / April 11th
Naval v. Sporting

Jornada 10 / 25: November 30th / April 19th
Sporting v. V. Guimarães

Jornada 11 / 26: December 7th / April 26th
E. Amadora v. Sporting

Jornada 12 / 27: December 21st / May 3rd
Sporting v. Académica

Jornada 13 / 28: January 4th / May 10th
V. Setúbal v. Sporting

Jornada 14 / 29: January 11th / May 17th
Sporting v. Marítimo

Jornada 15 / 30: January 25th / May 24th
Nacional v. Sporting

Jornadas 2 through 4 are a fun way to start the season with Braga, a Belenenenenenses derby, a Lampoes Lampiões derby at da Luz, and a home match against the Tripe Eaters. Jeesh…

    Dude,
If you wanna insult your rival club fans, at least do it properly….
I know we benfiquistas are a step (or ten) ahead from SCP fans in evolution terms (dont worry, you are still miles ahead from those FCP donkeys), but, please dont misspell our negative nicknames like you just did.
That said, it is “lampiões”, not “lampoes”… That is not even a word in portuguese.
    Gloriosos Cheers

I agree with you 100%, if I’m going to talk shit I need to spell it right. I’m fixing it as we speak. I spelled it more or less on a guess (since broken, half-assed Portuguese is essentially my 3rd language) but when I insult either club in the future, I’ll be sure you are put down properly.

Also, while we have a good source of information on Benfica here Nuno, could you help me out? Do you mind letting me know when Benfica play their first Champions League match this season? I can’t seem to find them on the schedule or team lists anywhere for that particular competition. Thanks for your help! ;-)

This years Champs League is for minnows and corrupts. It doesn´t have any interest whatsoever. The Big Boys are at the UEFA Cup.
